Synopsis: A birthday revelation about the identity of her father--a socially excluded Indian "Untouchable"--drives young French actress Jeanne into embarking on an odyssey through India. Knowing not much more than the man's name, Jeanne loses herself in a completely foreign land. Eventually, however, she meets a young man who becomes her guide to the mysterious landscape and sensuous culture, as well as her own personal quest for heritage. Directed by Benoit Jacquot (ADOLPHE, SADE), THE UNTOUCHABLE was an official selection at the Venice International Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival.
